Lift someone's spirits with a Memphis Style Greeting Card As you might already know, I'm a huge fan of 80s Memphis style. It just makes me smile. The more bad taste, the better, as far as I am concerned.  Why not, then, share these big bold, bright shapes and colors with your friends and loved ones. Calling all Peckham fans and residents For all Peckham fans, here is my ultimate 80s Memphis design that I have currently on my BillingtonPix RedBubble store . It works perfectly on a wall clock, but is available on many different products. What is Memphis Style? Memphis Style was developed in the 1980s as a Postmodern foil against the more formulaic designs that had come out of the Modernist post war period. It is quite a controversial style that aims to break all the rules with its bold use of colors and shapes. When it came to Memphis style furniture, it was often quite tricky to match anything up with it, so different was it in design to what had come beforehand.  Memphis Style Reinterpreted  These days the design has toned down somewhat and whilst still contains the famous geometric shapes and squiggles, is more in keeping with modern day 21st century tastes. In Love with 80s Memphis Style I've created an 80s Memphis Style collection on my BillingtonPix Society6 store . What is Memphis Style? 80s Postmodern abstract shapes and flat colors juxtaposed together. Most people either love or hate it. The designs of the 1980s weren't particularly suited to work very well together, tended to clash and were quite hard to integrate with existing furniture. More recent designs tend to have a more toned down look, but not always.  Check out my 80s Memphis collection on Society6

I've uploaded some Memphis style Save the Date invitation postcards to my Zazzle shop. They are quite cute I think, and definitely of a different style. They come with an envelope and are perfect as party or engagement party save the date invitations. The entire collection can be found in the Memphis Designs collection of my shop. If you don't know what Memphis Style is I've got a little explainer against each product. But it was created by the Memphis Group in the 1980s as a reaction against the post war designs which were deemed too formulaic. The founding members of the Memphis Group were Ettore Sottsass, Nathalie Du Pasquier and Michele de Lucchi. Memphis style follows no rules and is quite anarchic I think. Here are a few stickers I have created on Zazzle. You can find my sticker collection here too.  I love Memphis design, which comes from the 1980s and was a foil against the more formulaic post war designs that preceded. It kind of aims to shock with its bright colors and bold shapes. Love it or loathe it - it is quite a controversial design movement and I didn't use to care for it much. However these days I've come to realise how much it is has grown on me. What do you think of postmodern design like this? Do you like or hate it?
