I thought I'd write a bit of a brain dump about a typical day for me right now. It might prove useful to someone, as well as for me to get my thoughts in order. The main aim, obviously is sales. RedBubble is most of my traffic resides, so I have that as a number one priority. You can upload up to 60 designs a day on RedBubble, so I am currently ensuring that I maximise my product uploads there every day. That is the first thing I do in the mornings. I am currently uploading manually, although I have been investigating automation. Once my uploads to RedBubble are completed (by about 10am) my day is free to look at other things. The next task to perform is to share some of my newly updated products to RedBubble. My current designs work best of t-shirts, so I choose the t-shirt type from a number of my RedBubble designs and share them to my t-shirt and tops board. These awesome framed urban photographs are available for purchase online. A lot are based around Southwark, London, where I live. I spent a lot of time observing the beauty of urban decay during the first Lockdown in 2020. It was very therapeutic to wander around a very quiet London capturing these quirky images. Calling all Peckham fans and residents For all Peckham fans, here is my ultimate 80s Memphis design that I have currently on my BillingtonPix RedBubble store . It works perfectly on a wall clock, but is available on many different products. What is Memphis Style? Memphis Style was developed in the 1980s as a Postmodern foil against the more formulaic designs that had come out of the Modernist post war period. It is quite a controversial style that aims to break all the rules with its bold use of colors and shapes. When it came to Memphis style furniture, it was often quite tricky to match anything up with it, so different was it in design to what had come beforehand.  Memphis Style Reinterpreted  These days the design has toned down somewhat and whilst still contains the famous geometric shapes and squiggles, is more in keeping with modern day 21st century tastes. My Train Journeys across China I've uploaded some Chinese-themed products to RedBubble and Zazzle today. Take a look! This page displays my t-shirts, stickers, phone cases and sweatshirts, but there are many more products listed on my website and marketplaces. I visited China in 1997, having taken the overland train from London Liverpool Street station all the way to Moscow, and then the Trans Siberian Railway from Moscow to Beijing. More recently I travelled from Hong Kong to Shanghai on a 72 hour transit visa. The difference between what I saw in 1997 versus what I saw in 2015, in terms of the pace of change was incredible. In the Peace Hotel, however, little had changed! I remembered that it is possible to go out onto the roof there, where there is a fantastic view of Pudong and the Bund. A bit of background about me and some detail on how I have tried to build up my print on demand enterprise in the last 12 months. I've listed out a few general starter tips that might help someone to succeed at selling their digital artwork, although I am by no means an expert at this! Covid changed everything Until last year I worked in IT. I've done so since 1998. In April 2020 that all changed when Covid hit and I had to choose between a reduced salary or a redundancy. I chose the latter. For a while I haven't been enjoying my IT career. I was a solution architect but had not progressed for a while and was feeling rather disillusioned. So I left my job. For the next month I binge-watched Netflix, applying for new IT jobs and getting lots of rejections. The economy was hitting a buffer as companies froze their IT recruitment and I found myself just wasting my time preparing for interviews that never progressed. In Love with 80s Memphis Style I've created an 80s Memphis Style collection on my BillingtonPix Society6 store . What is Memphis Style? 80s Postmodern abstract shapes and flat colors juxtaposed together. Most people either love or hate it. The designs of the 1980s weren't particularly suited to work very well together, tended to clash and were quite hard to integrate with existing furniture.
